(i)        WHEREAS the Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Committee receives the staff report “Rabbits Bay landing Rehabilitation”, dated April 26th, 2010 on the rehabilitation of the stream located near the municipal dock and boat landing known as Rabbits Bay Landing;

 

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Committee recommend to Council that this project be approved with funding from Bigwin Fish Fund and the approved 2010 budget allocation of $5,000.

(ii)              WHEREAS the Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Committee hereby receives the staff report “Dwight Rink Repairs”, dated April 26th, 2010;

 

            BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Committee recommend that Council approve the upgrades for the Dwight rink from the Parks Reserve Fund for approximately $28,000, subject to a written winter maintenance agreement be signed by all parties (i.e. snow removal, flooding).

BE IT RESOLVED THAT further to the delegation presented at the April 27th, 2010 Council meeting the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Lake of Bays hereby consents to the increase of proposed parkland dedication from 38 acres (5%) to 58 acres (8%) from Echo Valley (Huntsville) Developments Limited for the purpose of building and constructing a public adventure park.

Councillor Casey reported on the following:

 

Muskoka Trails Council Annual General Meeting March 27th

·      Participated in this well attended event that included a strategy setting session for the upcoming year

·      New participants generated new ideas and validated the activities to date

 

DMM Solid Waste Financial Review Committee

·      Attended this meeting as LOB representative on May 3.

·      This committee has met a number of times over the past 3 years in order to more appropriately distribute costs for solid waste across all municipalities.

·      The current policy is not being followed.

·      The impact for Lake of Bays is that the cost of haulage from the Transfer Stations to the Landfill sites will no longer be charged to the landfill cost centre; thus there will be an increase to the amount charged to our taxpayers.

·      It is anticipated that this committee will make a final recommendation to District Council at its next meeting later this summer.

 

Muskoka Business Women’s Awards

·        Attended this event and was pleased to nominate Jane Langmuir, owner of Muskoka Natural Food Market and a former Lake of Bays cottager. Jane was the recipient of the category for more than 15 employees.

 

Margaret Lake Road visit

·        Attended with roads staff to view issues with Margaret Lake Rd users.

 

Muskoka Watershed Report Card:

·        Released on May 10 in What’s up Huntsville/Lake of Bays and other editions

·        Will be launched at District Council meeting on May 25

·        All are welcome to attend and listen to the remarks of Rob Milligan, MWC Chair and Lake of Bays resident

 

Change of Command Ceremony, Beaver Creek Institution

·        Attended this event on behalf of Mayor Peake

 

Mayor’s Walk

·        May 25th at 9:30 am at Paint Lake Covered Bridge Walking Trail

·        Expecting a good turnout
