The
purpose of the Planning Advisory Committee is to provide
professional advisory services to Council, Committees, staff and
ratepayers respecting development, planning and environmental
matters, in the most efficient and effective manner, given the
resources available. The Committee functions include making recommendations to Council respecting:

Local
and district Official Plan Policy;

Zoning
By-law Amendments;
-
Plans
of Subdivision;
-
Site
Plan Approval; and
-
others
(Pits and Quarries, Forestry By-laws)
The
Provincial legislative basis for this committee is the Planning
Act which promotes:

Economic development on a healthy natural environment;
-
Land
use planning system led by Provincial Policy Statement;
-
Fair
and open planning process;
-
Responsible
local decision making
