The Corporate Services Department supports Council and staff by maintaining current knowledge about relevant legislation in order to provide information about these Acts:

  • Municipal       
  • Election         
  • Cemeteries   
  • Heritage        
  • Vital Statistics
  • Employment Standards
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Municipal Freedom of Information, and Protection of Privacy
  • Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability   etc.

Our professional staff members administer these Acts to ensure that the municipality conducts its daily business with integrity, transparency, consistency and in compliance with the legislation.

Corporate Services is responsible for creating and maintaining corporate records to provide an accurate history of events and day-to-day activities, as described below:

  • Prepare and record Council and Committee agendas and minutes
  • Respond to public inquiries and provide information regarding Council and Committees
  • Prepare resolutions and by-laws
  • Process birth and death forms  under the Vital Statistics Act
  • Maintain cemetery records
  • Process Freedom of Information Requests
  • Maintain election records
  • Develop various policies and procedures
  • Process property acquisitions and dispositions;
  • Process original road allowance and original shore road allowance closure
  • Administer oaths and take affidavits
  • Maintain heritage property designations inventory

The Department of Corporate Services is the primary link for the municipality with various government agencies such as AMCTO, Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing, Ministry of Government Services and other external associations and organizations.
