Citizen Engagement: questions comments concerns

About Committees

Council has established committees in an endeavour to meet the changing needs of the community through effective delivery of municipal services and to solicit public input on choices which may affect the community.  Such committees will act as liaisons between the  community and local government and strive to maintain professionalism and fairness in all they do.

Several committees and/or boards are mandatory under provincial legislation; such as, the Committee of Adjustment and Library Board.  All other committees are created at Council's discretion.

The main functions of the committees are:

  • Reflect local views
  • Recognize various "publics"
  • Use varied means of communication
  • Liaise with the media
  • Provide less formal venue for public

Council participates in the following committees:

Committees/Boards of Council

Committee of Adjustment

Community Emergency Management Committee

Finance and Corporate Services Committee

Fire Advisory Committee

Heritage Advisory Committee

Library Board

Norway Point Advisory Committee

Parks, Recreation and Trails Committee
