The purpose of the Finance Department is to provide financial management and accounting services to maintain the financial stability of the municipality for the ratepayers, Council and all operational departments within the municipality in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

The Finance Department is committed to:

  • oversee and administer annual operating and capital budget preparation and approval process;
  • attend at front counter reception for general inquiries;
  • process incoming mail;
  • issue tax certificates;
  • administer application processes for grants;
  • process payroll and benefits for all departments;
  • process accounts payable and receivable for all departments;
  • process taxation billing, collection and deposit of all revenues;
  • provide financial advice and consultation to all departments and Council;
  • facilitate financial auditing procedures;
  • maintain municipal electronic archival records;
  • prepare annual financial statements and reporting of financial information;
  • administer insurance coverage, risk-management and safeguard assets;
  • ensure integrated electronic information system and automated business processes provide reliable and convenient access to municipal services through a full range of access points.
