Parks and Recreation


The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining all the Township parks, beaches, boat launches docks, water access points, picnic sites, cemeteries, and senior centres and for maintaining and operating the recreation facilities.

The Township of Lake of Bays has the following:

  • two (2) Community Centres - Baysville and Dwight,
  • four (4) Seniors Centres - Baysville, Dorset, Dwight & Port Cunnington,
  • one (1) indoor arena - Baysville,
  • two (2) outdoor rinks - Dorset Community Park and Dwight Bay Road,
  • one (1) ball diamond - Dorset Community Park,
  • one (1) soccer pitch - Baysville Arena Park,
  • two (2) playgrounds - Baysville Arena Park, Dorset Community Park
  • one (1) park with nature & bike trails - Echo Valley Nature & Bike Trails, Dwight
  • one(1) outdoor tennis court - Baysville Van Setters Park, and
  • five (5) cemeteries - Cooper Lake, Maple Wood, Paint Lake, Baysville, Stewart Memorial and St. Georges.

A Parks Master Plan was created in 2006 through a detailed review and public consultation process and is used by the municipality to develop new park areas, facilities and to implement improvements to existing parks, open spaces and facilities.
