PURPOSE:
To
provide professional advisory services to Council,
Committees, staff and ratepayers respecting development,
planning and environmental matters, in an efficient and
effective manner.
The
Planning Department provides advice to Council and Committees
relating to:
• Long range planning issues, such as the Official
Plan and lake plans
•
Applications before the Committee of Adjustment regarding consents
(severances) and minor variances
• Applications before Council regarding by-law
amendments to either
the Development Permit By-law (04-180) or the
Comprehensive Zoning By-law (04-181) property-specific
variations to the Development Permit, plans of subdivision,
and site plan approval.
The Planning Department provides
advice to landowners relating to development proposals for their
property, and whether the proposal conforms to the Official Plan
or either of the Township by-laws. If a landowner is
considering either developing or re-developing their property,
or submitting a planning application, they are encouraged to
first contact the Planning Department by providing:
-
a brief letter describing the
proposal;
-
a survey sketch showing all
structures on the property to scale ( a hand drawn sketch is
acceptable but must be to scale), as well as show natural versus
cleared lawn areas within 50 ft of shore (if applicable);
-
a list of all structures with
their square footage identified; and
-
if applicable, photos of the
shoreline (preferably taken in the summer).
