NOMINATION PERIOD
Nomination for candidates for the 2022 Municipal Elections opens on Monday, May 2, 2022 and closes on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
Eligible voters will elect a number of different positions on Voting Day, including:
- One (1) Mayor
- One (2) District Councillors
- Four (4) Ward Councillors (one for each Ward) - Interactive Ward Map
The four (4) year term of office for the next Council begins on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
Qualifications

Candidates are responsible for ensuring that they meet the Candidate Qualifications prior to filing their nomination papers. A nomination paper must be filed prior to accepting campaign contributions or incurring expenses. To run for Council (Mayor, District Councillor or Ward Councillor) the person must be:
- A resident of the Township of Lake of Bays; or
- A non-resident who is an owner or tenant of land in the Township of Lake of Bays or the spouse of or same sex partner of such an owner or tenant; and
- A Canadian citizen; and
- At least eighteen (18) years of age; and
- Not legally prohibited from voting; and
- Not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office; and
- Able to provide at least 25 signatures from individuals eligible to vote in the Township of Lake of Bays on the day they signed the endorsement.
