About Lake of Bays

The Township of Lake of Bays is located in northeastern Muskoka, beside world-renowned Algonquin Park. Known for its natural beauty, charming hamlets and recreational opportunities, Lake of Bays is a vibrant four-season community.

With picturesque landscapes, outdoor activities, specialty shops and restaurants, Lake of Bays is the ideal place to live and work. It is also a premier destination for cottagers and travellers seeking a summer playground or a winter wonderland.

Lake of Bays is situated just east of Huntsville and is 2 hours north of Toronto, 1 hour south of North Bay, and 3.5 hours west of Ottawa.

Lake of Bays is circled by four charming hamlets:

Baysville is located in the southern part of the Township and is home to the Baysville Dam and many exciting annual festivals and special events

Located on Lake of Bays in Trading Bay, Dorset features the historic SS Bigwin steamship and the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower.

On the Highway 60 corridor, Dwight is a thriving community at the north end of Lake of Bays with many accommodation options, bakeries, marinas and shops. Enjoy beautiful Dwight Beach or experience one of the many exciting festivals and special events

Hillside is a hub for artists and adventurers located along the Highway 60 corridor and Limberlost Road. Visit one of the many artists' studios or venture into the Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve.

District of Muskoka Web Mapping

The Muskoka GeoHub is an online interactive mapping application that features a new mapping interface and touch screen support for mobile devices.

The application allows users to search for features and view high resolution aerial photography for the entire district.

The most recent photographs were captured in May 2013. New in 2017 is the Shoreline Video Map which shows video of select portions of shoreline.
