Committees

Purpose of Committees

Committees provide advice and recommendations to Council. Most committees include members of the public, and members of Council.

A number of committees and/or boards are mandatory under provincial legislation while others are created at Council's discretion.

Functions of Committees

• Reflect local views
• Recognize various “publics”
• Use varied means of communication
• Liaise with the media
• Provide less formal venue for the public
