Community Grant Program

The Township of Lake of Bays values the essential role that community organizations play in strengthening our community. The Community Grant Program provides financial assistance to not-for-profit community organizations to support activities or projects that promote:

  • Arts, Culture & Heritage, 
  • Community Growth & Development,
  • Environment/Sustainability,
  • Health & Well-being, or 
  • Recreation.

The program has three streams to offer flexibility and a more efficient application process.

  • The Sponsorship stream will provide up to $500 for community events or regional special events.
  • The Fast-track stream will provide up to $1,000 for small projects or new ideas with short timelines.
  • The Start-up/Growth stream offers up to $5,000 for new or larger projects.

Deadline

  • Applications to the Sponsorship and Fast-track streams will be considered on an ongoing basis throughout 2024, subject to availability of funds.
  • Applications to the Start-up/Growth stream are now closed. The deadline for applications was November 15, 2023 to request funds for activities taking place in 2024.

All requests are subject to approval of the Township's annual operating budget; the program is at the discretion of Council and may be cancelled at any time. 

The Community Grant Program Policy ensures that public funds for this program are used in an accountable and transparent manner and provides a framework for the administration of the program including eligibility, the application process, and decision-making criteria for awarding funds.

  • Grant recipients must complete a final report to report on how the funding was spent and the impact the project had on the community. (Sponsorship stream exempt

  • The final report must be submitted to the Township within three (3) months after the project/event occurs.
