Residents of Lake of Bays May Be Eligible for the Energy Affordability Program’s Oil to Heat Pump Offering
(Lake of Bays, ON) - The Township of Lake of Bays is encouraging eligible homeowners to explore Save on Energy’s Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) offering, delivered through the Energy Affordability Program and co-funded by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). This offering helps qualifying households transition from oil heating to an energy-efficient heat pump system.
The OHPA is designed to support eligible homeowners who currently heat their primary residence with oil by replacing their existing oil heating system with an eligible electric heat pump. It offers an opportunity to reduce home heating costs while improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For eligible homeowners, these upgrades are provided at no cost.
If eligible, the free heat pump upgrade would include:

Installation of an eligible heat pump

Removal and disposal of existing oil heating equipment

Backup heat kits, where required

A home energy assessment and HVAC pre-inspection

Follow-up visits after one and two years
-
A 10-year labor and parts warranty on eligible heat pump equipment
To qualify, applicants must meet the Energy Affordability Program’s eligibility requirements. Homeowners are encouraged to review the full program details before applying.
Residents interested in learning more or determining whether they qualify can visit the Energy Affordability Program. Current program intake is expected to remain open until Fall 2026.
