Flood Warning in effect for our area until Wednesday, April 22

The Ministry of Natural Resources Bracebridge Minden Parry Sound District has issued a Flood Warning for area watersheds, including the Muskoka River watershed. Flooding is imminent or occurring within specific watercourses and municipalities.

Residents should expect lake water levels to continue rising and river flows to remain high throughout the week. The MNR notes that lake water levels in several areas are approaching the upper limits of their normal operating ranges and are expected to continue rising.

Use extra caution around all waterways. Fast moving water, slippery banks, and cold temperatures create hazardous conditions. Some lakes still have ice cover, and increased water levels may erode the ice and create floating ice hazards that could damage waterfront infrastructure.

If your property has been affected by high water in past years, take steps now to secure items and protect vulnerable areas. Keep children and pets away from shorelines and fast flowing water.

Stay informed and monitor conditions regularly.
