Half‑load restrictions start March 9 in Lake of Bays

Half load restrictions will be in effect starting March 9, 2026, or when signs are posted.

These limits are put in place each spring to protect our roads while the frost is coming out of the ground. From the late winter thaw to about the end of May, the Highway Traffic Act requires reduced weights on municipal roads. During this period, vehicles are limited to five tonnes per axle. The exact date restrictions are lifted depends on road and weather conditions.
