Media Release: Baysville Farmers’ Market Set to Launch in the Heart of the Hamlet for 2026

(Lake of Bays, ON) The Township of Lake of Bays will launch a Baysville Farmers’ Market for the 2026 season, ensuring the community continues to have access to a local market after the previous private operator stepped away.

At the February 10, 2026, council meeting, Council approved a limited term three-year plan for the Township to step in and manage the market while a long‑term community partner is identified.

“Losing this market would mean more than just missing a weekly event,” said Mayor Terry Glover. “It brings people into town, gives local growers and entrepreneurs a place to sell, and adds life to the hamlet every Friday. Having it back beside the Community Centre, the library, and the arena, with the new splash pad opening this summer, means families can make a whole afternoon of it right in the core of Baysville.”

“Council recognized how important the market is to the community and ensured it can get up and running again this year while we work toward a community‑run model,” said Scott MacKinnon, Director of Parks and Facilities. “In the meantime, we expect vendor fees to offset the staff time needed to manage it.”

The 2026 market is planned to run on Fridays starting June 26 and running until September 4 at the Lake of Bays Community Centre, with the option to extend based on vendor interest and market performance.

Vendors Encouraged to Apply Early
Applications are now open for local growers, makers, and food producers for the 2026 season. Space is limited and early applications will support planning. For more information, including vendor applications and market details, visit the Baysville Farmers’ Market webpage.
