Flood Warning Update for Lake of Bays April 16
(Lake of Bays, ON) - The Township of Lake of Bays continues to manage spring flooding as a flood warning remains in effect across the area. Earlier today, the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNRF) released an updated Flood Warning bulletin for the area, reflecting ongoing high water levels and increased flood risk.
Municipal staff are monitoring conditions, focusing on areas that are known to flood, and working with provincial and local partners to respond where needed.
Road Conditions
Public Works crews are actively patrolling and monitoring roads and responding where water is affecting roadways. Residents are encouraged to report road washouts, flooded roadways, or other road related concerns at lakeofbays.on.ca/Report-It or call (705) 635-2851.
What Residents Should Do
Residents are asked to take simple steps to stay safe and prepared:
- Avoid flooded roads and stay well back from fast moving water
- Check sump pumps, drainage, and downspouts around your property
- Secure shoreline items and materials in low lying areas
- Ensure you have a basic 72-hour emergency kit in case of power outages or access disruptions
- Subscribe to the Township’s News and Notices for updates
- Download the Voyant Alert app to receive critical localized emergency notifications directly to your phone
