Media Release: Lake of Bays Fire Rescue Reopens Station 50 (Interlaken)

Community invited to BBQ and push-in ceremony on August 11

(Lake of Bays, ON) Lake of Bays Fire Rescue is inviting residents, visitors and former firefighters to celebrate the reopening of Station 50 (Interlaken) on August 11.

Closed since 2019, Station 50 is returning to service as the home of Squad 55, a new specialized support unit that strengthens emergency response capabilities in the northern area of the Township. Recruitment and training for Squad 55 are underway.

The event will feature station tours, a community barbecue, a hands-on fire extinguisher demonstration, a presentation from the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office and a traditional fire service push-in ceremony, where community members will help place Squad 55's response vehicle into its new home at Station 50.

The event is also an opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering in a support role with Lake of Bays Fire Rescue. Squad 55 members assist firefighters at emergency scenes, help manage equipment and supplies, and support incident command and other on-scene operations.
