Media Release:
Logging Chain Park Public Survey Opens
(Lake of Bays, ON) The Township of Lake of Bays is launching the first phase of public engagement for the recently purchased Logging Chain Lodge property in Dwight. Council chose to buy the land in 2025 to protect an important community space and to ensure that any future use reflects community priorities instead of private interests.
Public input gathered through past engagement continues to guide the Township’s decisions. Community feedback shaped strategies such as the Parks, Open Space and Recreation Strategy (POSRS) and the Community Improvement Plan (CIP), both of which call for stronger recreation opportunities, better access to public spaces, and more investment in the public realm.
“This is a new chapter for Dwight,” said Mayor Terry Glover. “Residents helped set the direction through our plans and strategies, and now they can help shape the design and features of this new park. Community input will be considered alongside technical analysis and Council direction.”
The 6.86-acre property sits within walking distance of the core of Dwight, with access from both Highway 60 and Dwight Beach Road. The site offers a rare mix of visibility, a central location, and proximity to the water.
The Township plans to hire a consultant in late 2026 to support the full planning and design process based on community feedback.
Residents can now share their input through a survey on the Township’s online engagement platform. The page also offers more information about the project, an interactive map of the site, and a full FAQ. Create an account and complete the public survey by March 13, 2026, at engage.lakeofbays.on.ca.
