Public Notice: High Float Resurfacing on Billie Bear Road and Seabreeze Road

The Township of Lake of Bays will be completing high-float resurfacing on the following roads:

  • Billie Bear Road (1.8 km), end of Pavement to Bella Shores Road
  • Seabreeze Road (2.0 km), Ten Mile Creek to Delbrooke intersection

Work is underway and will take place over several weeks.

What to expect

  • Traffic will be maintained. Expect delays, loose gravel, and reduced speeds.
  • Please use caution and follow all signage when travelling through the work area.

About the work

High float resurfacing is a multi-step road preservation treatment. It is used on rural roads to extend the life of the roadway and reduce long-term costs.

After the initial work, the road surface may appear rough or similar to gravel. This is expected. The treatment takes some time to form the durable driving surface you are used to, while preparing it for the final stage.

In 2027, the Township will return to apply a slurry seal, which is a thin layer of asphalt emulsion and fine aggregate that creates a smoother, sealed driving surface and extends the life of the road.
