Township Encourages Families to Plan Ahead for Emergencies

The Township of Lake of Bays reminds residents that taking steps to prepare in advance can help children feel more confident and ready to respond if an emergency occurs.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to talk with their children about different types of emergencies and the appropriate responses to each. Families should create and review an emergency plan together to ensure that everyone understands their role, working to practice the plan on a regular basis. Taking time to practice an emergency plan will help children feel more confident and prepared in the event of an emergency.

Top 3 Ways to Help Kids in an Emergency:

  1. Develop a family emergency plan together and practice it.

  1. Involve children in building an emergency kit.

  1. Teach children how to properly use 9-1-1..

Every family should have an emergency plan, and every child should be included in it.
