Township Office Will Be Closed for Canada Day
Please be advised that the Township of Lake of Bays Municipal Office will be CLOSED on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in celebration of Canada Day. The office will reopen at 8:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
(Lake of Bays, ON) – At its meeting on May 13, 2025, Township of Lake of Bays Council approved the formation of the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) Task Force. This group will help shape the Township’s MAT program, supporting and growing local tourism.
The Muskoka Fire Danger Rating has been elevated to HIGH due to increasingly dry conditions and several recent wildland fires in the region. With warm weather and low humidity, the risk of wildfire is serious.
The Township of Lake of Bays advises that the reduced load limits of 5 tonnes per axle previously in effect on all Township roads have now been lifted. As of Monday May 12, 2025, load restrictions are no longer in effect and normal load limits have resumed.

As part of National Palliative Care Week, May 4-10, 2025, the Township of Lake of Bays has raised the
flag of Hospice Huntsville. Hospice Huntsville provides quality care and support to individuals and their
families in the Huntsville area who are seeking end-of-life care.
The Township of Lake of Bays is continuing its review of the Official Plan, a document that will guide growth, development, and land use over the next 25 years.
The Township of Lake of Bays invites residents to apply for the Habitat and Biodiversity Fund. This program offers grants to support small projects that help nature thrive in the community.
The Lake of Bays Community Centre in Baysville has welcomed some charming new forest friends. A stunning new sculpture by woodcarver Jake Rhodes has been unveiled at the facility. This piece, which took over 80 hours to complete and weighs approximately 250 pounds, adds a unique local touch to the centre.
The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) – Bracebridge-Minden-Parry Sound District is advising area residents that a Flood Watch bulletin continues for the area until Friday, May 2, 2025.
Residents should expect water levels and river flows to remain high through April 25-27
weekend and into the week of April 28- May 2.
