Lake of Bays Fire Rescue to Continue Door-to-Door Collection for Annual Project Porchlight Food Drive

(Lake of Bays, ON) Lake of Bays Fire Rescue is inviting the community to help fill local food bank shelves this holiday season through the annual Project Porchlight Food Drive on Wednesday, December 2, 2026.

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Lake of Bays Fire Rescue trucks and volunteers will travel designated roads throughout the Township to collect donations in support of the Lake of Bays Winter Pantry, with overflow donations supporting The Table Soup Kitchen. Residents along the collection routes who wish to participate are encouraged to turn on their porchlight and have their non-perishable food donations ready for collection on the porch or at the end of their driveway.

“Lake of Bays Fire Rescue is proud to participate in initiatives that directly support our community,” said Jeremy Alldred-Hughes, Fire Chief, Lake of Bays Fire Rescue. “Our firefighters are looking forward to getting into the community again this year.”

Donation Drop Off
Residents who are not located along a collection route, will not be home that evening, or would simply prefer to drop off their donation can visit Lake of Bays Fire Rescue Stations 20, 30 or 40 between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on December 2. On the same day, the Huntsville Fire Department will also be holding special community food donation events in support of the Salvation Army at Fire Station 1 in Huntsville and Fire Station 5 in Port Sydney. Firefighters and volunteers will be on hand to receive food donations.

Lake of Bays Fire Rescue invites other community organizations and members of the public to lend a hand during the evening, bringing volunteers together to help collect and receive donations for residents in need.

The Township of Lake of Bays wishes to thank residents, volunteers and community partners for their generosity and support for this year's Project Porchlight Food Drive.
