On October 7, 2025, at approximately 4:20 a.m., the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Delbrooke Road in Lake of Bays.
On October 1, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on West Street South in Huntsville.
The ongoing Canada Post strike may cause delays in mail delivery. Residents should be aware that notices, payments, and refunds sent by mail could be impacted, and alternative options are encouraged to avoid inconvenience.
The proposed by-laws will come before the Township of Lake of Bays Council for consideration at its regular meeting to be held in a hybrid setting (in-person and electronically), on the 14th day of October, 2025, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. o’clock, in the morning.
Following feedback from public consultation and recommendations from an advisory group which included local accommodation providers, a new draft Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) By-law has been released for public review and input.

On August 28 and 29, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to two reported house fires in Huntsville and Port Cunnington. Smoke alarms alerted residents, who evacuated safely. One case was traced to a furnace wire. The Fire Department urges yearly furnace inspections and safe heating practices.
The Township of Lake of Bays is advising residents and visitors that current water levels on Lake of Bays are lower than normal for this time of year due to limited rainfall. Other lakes in the community may be experiencing similar conditions. Boaters are reminded to exercise caution when using public boat launches.
