  • Paint Lake Pioneer Cemetery Welcomes New Columbarium

    This week, the Township installed a new columbarium at Paint Lake Cemetery in Dorset. It is the third columbarium available across the Township. The columbarium is located within Paint Lake Cemetery, a historic site that has served Dorset’s early settlers.

  • Five Lake of Bays Students Awarded Community Education Bursary

    Mayor Terry Glover recently joined Josie Barter and four other graduating students from the Township of Lake of Bays to celebrate their award of $1,900 each through the newly established Lake of Bays Community Education Bursary.

  • Damaged Hedge Removed from Gristmill Park

    The Township of Lake of Bays wishes to advise the community that work has been completed to clear a significantly damaged hedge at Gristmill Park in Baysville. The hedge between Gristmill Park and the Robertson parkette in Baysville sustained a lot of damage over the winter months, including from the ice storm in Spring 2025.

    TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Lake of Bays will be considering proposed amendments to the User Fees & Charges By-law at the regularly scheduled meeting held on July 29, 2025, for the following departments:

  • Linda Lacroix Named Lake of Bays Senior of the Year for 2025

    (LAKE OF BAYS, ON) On June 10, 2025, in celebration and recognition of Seniors Month, Mayor Terry Glover and Councilor Jacqueline Godard presented the Ontario Senior of the Year Award to Linda Lacroix of Lake of Bays.  

  • Media Release: Bringing Families Back to Norway Point Park While Keeping the Shoreline Natural

    Norway Point Park in Lake of Bays is undergoing a revitalization shaped by the feedback residents shared during public consultations in 2023. The project will feature an improved beach area, more seating, and upgrades to make the park more enjoyable for everyone, all while keeping the space and shoreline beautiful and natural.

  • Media Release: Receive Planning Application Notices by Email Amid Postal Disruptions

    In response to ongoing postal disruptions, the Township of Lake of Bays Planning Department now offers the delivery of planning application notices directly by email. This ensures residents remain informed about local planning and development, even when mail delivery is delayed or unavailable.

  • Public Feedback Leads to Two New Accessible Parking Spaces Near Dwight Beach

     

    The Township of Lake of Bays is pleased to announce the addition of two new accessible parking spaces near Dwight Beach.  It was previously proposed for the addition of one parking space but thanks to the feedback we received from the public, the plan was adjusted to include two.  


  • Heat Warning Issued for Lake of Bays June 23, 2025

    The Lake of Bays region has been issued a heat warning by Environment Canada. This heat event could last until the morning of Wednesday June 25, 2025, with temperatures ranging from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius (with a humidex of 40 to 43).

  • Outdoor Rescues Highlight Need for Preparedness

    (Huntsville/Lake of Bays) – Over the weekend, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to two separate rescue incidents involving individuals lost in remote areas.
