The Finance Department provides support to maintain the financial stability of the municipality for the ratepayers, Council and all operational departments in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Every year the Township develops and adopts a Budget to guide activities and expenditures, and establish the amount of revenue required to fund these.

Financial Reporting

The Financial Statements inform Council and the community of the Township's financial position and activity. These statements are audited annually by an external accounting firm to ensure that they provide an accurate presentation of the Corporation's financial position.

Financial reporting is completed to help with decision making and increase public accountability and transparency.

Cash in Lieu of Parkland

In accordance with the section 42 of the Planning Act, a municipality may require, as a condition of development, that land be conveyed to the municipality for a park or other public recreational purposes. Alternatively the council may require a payment in lieu, to the value of the land otherwise required to be conveyed. These funds are held in a reserve fund, allocated interest and are only spent for the acquisition of land to be used for a park or other recreational purposes including the building, improvement or repair of a building for recreational purposes and/or the acquisition of machinery. The Treasurer of the municipality is required to report annually a Statement of Cash in Lieu of Parkland Reserve Fund and the statement shall be posted for public review.
