Township Office Will Be Closed for Canada Day
Please be advised that the Township of Lake of Bays Municipal Office will be CLOSED on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in celebration of Canada Day. The office will reopen at 8:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
In response to ongoing postal disruptions, the Township of Lake of Bays Planning Department now offers the delivery of planning application notices directly by email. This ensures residents remain informed about local planning and development, even when mail delivery is delayed or unavailable.
The Township of Lake of Bays is pleased to announce the addition of two new accessible parking spaces near Dwight Beach. It was previously proposed for the addition of one parking space but thanks to the feedback we received from the public, the plan was adjusted to include two.
The Lake of Bays region has been issued a heat warning by Environment Canada. This heat event could last until the morning of Wednesday June 25, 2025, with temperatures ranging from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius (with a humidex of 40 to 43).
(Huntsville/Lake of Bays) – Over the weekend, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to two separate rescue incidents involving individuals lost in remote areas.
On June 18, 2025, firefighters from the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to two separate fire-related incidents: one burn complaint and one uncontrolled burn. Crews from Station 1 in Huntsville were dispatched to both scenes.
The Township of Lake of Bays has entered the next phase of reviewing and updating its Official Plan. As part of this important stage, a Draft Official Plan is currently being compiled and will soon be released for public review. The community is encouraged to mark their calendars for two upcoming Public Open Houses and other engagement opportunities taking place this summer. Participating in these township engagement events will give residents a chance to share their ideas and help shape the future of land use in Lake of Bays.
The proposed by-laws will come before the Township of Lake of Bays Council for consideration at its regular meeting to be held in a hybrid setting (in-person and electronically), on the 8th day of July, 2025, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. o’clock, in the morning.
Please be advised that the Township of Lake of Bays will begin applying Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) to area roads during the week of June 16, 2025. This annual Calcium Chloride Application Program will cover approximately 100km of Township maintained gravel roads.
The Township of Lake of Bays has installed two new school zone signs on Dwight Beach Road as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety for students, families, and school staff.
