  • The District of Muskoka Advises Residents of Service Changes to Rideout Transfer Station

    On behalf of The District of Muskoka, the Township of Lake of Bays wishes to advise residents of upcoming service changes to the Ridout Transfer Station [21909 Hwy. 35, Dorset], effective Monday, September 15, 2025.

  • Media Release: Two Incidents of Home Furnaces Causing Smoke

    On August 28 and 29, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to two reported house fires in Huntsville and Port Cunnington. Smoke alarms alerted residents, who evacuated safely. One case was traced to a furnace wire. The Fire Department urges yearly furnace inspections and safe heating practices.

  • Expect Low Water Levels at Public Boat Launches

    The Township of Lake of Bays is advising residents and visitors that current water levels on Lake of Bays are lower than normal for this time of year due to limited rainfall. Other lakes in the community may be experiencing similar conditions. Boaters are reminded to exercise caution when using public boat launches.

  • Township of Lake of Bays Purchases Historic Logging Chain Lodge Property in Dwight

    The Township of Lake of Bays is pleased to announce the purchase of the Logging Chain Lodge property, a well-known landmark at 2840 Highway 60 in Dwight, Ontario. Located across from the very popular public Dwight Beach and Boat Launch, this prime property represents a strategic opportunity to meet the evolving needs of the Dwight community.

  • Splash Pad Update: Township Adds Enhancements to Water Management After Feedback from Community

    Many families have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the new Babb Family Splash Pad, and Township staff acknowledge that the wait has been longer than expected. Following feedback from community members, the design was adjusted to include additional environmental enhancements, which required extra time to complete.

  • Notice of Intent to Dispose of Surplus Property at September 9, Meeting

    The proposed by-laws will come before the Township of Lake of Bays Council for consideration at its regular meeting to be held in a hybrid setting (in-person and electronically), on the 9th day of September, 2025, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. o’clock, in the morning.

  • Muskoka Fire Danger Rating Lowered to HIGH

    The Muskoka Fire Danger Rating has been reduced to HIGH following recent rainfall across the region. While conditions have improved, the risk of wildfire remains elevated, and residents are reminded to use caution.

    Take Notice that tenders are invited for the purchase of the lands described below and will be received until 3:00 p.m. local time on September 25, 2025, at the Lake of Bays Municipal Office, 1012 Dwight Beach Road, Dwight, Ontario. The tenders will then be opened in public on the same day as soon as possible after 3:00 p.m. at the Lake of Bays Municipal Office, 1012 Dwight Beach Road, Dwight.
